I'll start with the translation of one of the famous Sadi's poems:
All Adam's race are members of one frame;
All Adam's race are members of one frame;
Since all, at first, from the same essence came.
When by hard fortune one limb is oppressed,
The other members lose their wonted rest:
If thou feel'st not for others' misery,
A son of Adam is no name for thee.
Please lets have conversations about the style, meaning, etc. of each poem or peice of writing. This one in my opinion means, is that humans are all from the same kind and tat we should always help each other. If you don't care for others....well then you aren't really a normal human.

And it's Biblical.
Okay, now for one of my favorite poems (albeit, a more light-hearted one:)
Roses are Red
But Vikings are Blue
The Saxons are Happy
Since Alfred Beat You!
Yay!!! Clapclapclapclap
Rocking On,
Postman Craig
lol. nice poem. clapclapclap.
Y r vikings considered blue? sort of confused here....
Awesome Poem;
Alfred was the King of Wessex during the Viking raids. He defended off stiff competition and united England
Craig have you tried reading the Saxon Series by Bernard Cornwell
I luv ur comments! keep visiting and discussing different written works please!
My favourite poem is the Hollow Men by; Ts. Eliot but the Charge of the Light Brigade by : Alfred Lord Tennyson is a close second
cool! i'm going to try and find them on the wewb and then post them here if u permit.
They are really long
Hollow Man? Isn't that the one with Ian McDiarmid as the Hollow Man? Whoe does his Emperor Palpatien Voice from Star Wars?
Rocking On,

k, i'm like so busy these days...is there any poem about stress and bussiness and stuff?
How about this one: (just got it off the internet)
BLISS
Stresses here, stresses there
Mounting stresses everywhere
Put them all in separate files
Stretch them out for miles and miles
Each has a portfolio
Each one with it's share of woe
How much of this can I take?
Must have limits for my sake
Sharing "freak outs" 'round I say
Gets me through each stressful day
Can't spin out on each the same
So I play the priority game
How much "freak out" for this one?
Through the list 'til I am done
Seems there is a finite share
Of freaking out in life's great snare
There's a choice that I can make
Only so much I can take
Choose how much to spend on this
And choose how much to spend on bliss

AWESOME! THAT TOTALLY DESCRIBES ME!
U KNOW HOW MANY PROJECTS I'VE GOT?
As many as I have to cope with. My life is not better than your's.
I'm a high school student, y'know.
Rocking On,

Not that i don't like challenges...but i hate being worried adn i also hate tests!
now allow me to post a poem by Rumi(this Iranian poet)
This World Which Is Made of Our Love for Emptiness
Praise to the emptiness that blanks out existence. Existence:
This place made from our love for that emptiness!
Yet somehow comes emptiness,
this existence goes.
Praise to that happening, over and over!
For years I pulled my own existence out of emptiness.
Then one swoop, one swing of the arm,
that work is over.
Free of who I was, free of presence, free of dangerous fear, hope,
free of mountainous wanting.
The here-and-now mountain is a tiny piece of a piece of straw
blown off into emptiness.
These words I'm saying so much begin to lose meaning:
Existence, emptiness, mountain, straw:
Words and what they try to say swept
out the window, down the slant of the roof.
P.S. this poem is so nice but weird.
What a great post and comments everyone! I love ALL poetry....this is a simple one I think you'll like...
Just One
By Anonymous
One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.
One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal
One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.
One step must start each journey.
One word must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.
One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what's true,
One life can make a difference,
You see, it's up to you!
I just loved that! (I read it out loud in my dreamy voice!lol) EVERYTHING in that poem is totally true! I'm so happy that only one can have such wonderful effects!
Many of them have happened in my life...I think all of my friendships have occured from just one smile from either me or someone else! Imagine how peaceful the world would be if everyone smiled at each other! (not that our world is like corrupted or anyhting...we need to stay positive, but still we know our world also needs quite a lot of fixing-up)
p.s. you made me feel so fantastic when you commented on this blog Ms. Watt! I hope u're having fun with your grade 7 classes!
A quote by Helen Keller:
"I do not want the peace which passeth understanding, I want the understanding which bringeth peace."
a quote by Ghandi:
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.
another quote by Ghandi:
Honest disagreement is often a good sign of progress.
One step must start each journey. That was well said. Ms. Watt's poem reminds me of Chaotic Theory.
One laugh can conquer gloom. That is quite true. It happens to me a lot...when I feel horrible and then a friend's joke makes me laugh...and then I feel to reluctant to feel sad again.
Your quotes made me think of this.......
If you want to read about some interesting 'Peace Leaders' in our world, go to my Grade 7 website and click on the websites projects for both Wed. and Thurs. classes. The students drew the names out of a hat and then created a webpage (their first!!!) on the person. They are very good and there are some unusual names and stories among them that I think you'll find very inspiring!
Oh I think I know what u r talking about! I have visited some of them before and was briefly took a look at them and read only some of them for I was very busy with my powerpoint then. (i still kind of am except i've put it off) I'll try to visit them for sure hopefully soemtime tomorrow again and take a better look at them!
if you are all wondering about the pics, it's because my uncle visited my blog and told me that it'd be nice if I included more colour and pics. I like this way better too. you should see the birdies (cockatiels) at the very bottom. lol. so cute.
"This is the way of peace: overcome evil with good, and falsehood with truth, and hatred with love." by Mildred Lisette Norman
I got this quote from one of the grade 7 websites. In my opinion the grade 7's works are quite impressive.
p.s. don't forget to look at the cockatiel pics at the bottom of the page!
p.s. the bird pics are not of my pets, I do not have my bird's pics on my computer, but those pics look identical to my birds!
I did the ecological footprint quiz on the MCQ website. I couldn't say that the result was pleasant.
Apparently we need 3.8 earths to support a world population of me. However, 95% of my radio buttons were in the lowest catergory... so, would it really take 3.8 earths? Or is it exaggerated? My total consumption equaled 6.8 hectares (compared to national average of 8.8)... 3.4 by food, 0 by mobility, 1.9 by shelter, and 1.5 by goods and services. As such, I think I actually did faily well. I have food (without much extra stuff,) water, shelter, and conserve. Am I really that bad? I have the essentials of life with very little on top. But I still am a globally horrible person? Well, so they say. But don't forget, they calculate in that you'd be globally better without essentials... true, but you're barely living. So, if everyone had what they needed and no more, wouldn't we be able to sustain ourselves anyway? If we were completely conservative? We wouldn't? I doubt that. If you set everything to the lowest, you'd appear to be completely green... but you'd couldn't live very well at all. So, is this poll entirely accurate? Not neccessarily.
wow. cool quiz!
wait. I remember that quiz! I took it last year in my class for earth day I think!
I'm pretty sure the quiz was accurate. But I think that we could conserve in our own way and live a good life at the same time. Though this might require more non-pollutive technology.
Basically it said that if we wanted to be totally environmentally friendly we needed to be dying and diseased hobos like in poor African countries. Personally, I don't think that should be so. I think that all humans have a right to food, claen running water, shelter, and education. I think everyone can live like that and still be green. So, I think saying that you can't do so and be green is way too extreme. Yes, it will require better, conservative, clean technology. But we already have a lot and can easily create more. Anyway, Just blabbing about how I hate all this doom-and-gloom woe-is-me stuff taht the world is dying physically and will be overpopulated. It has its problems, but giving up hope ain't no not gonna do much about anythin' y'all... if ya known what I'd be meanin.'
Rocking On,
Postman Craig
I know I need to change the way I live and I already have improved a bit. But in my opnion, it's mostly the extremely extremely rich rich billionairs that really need to change their lifestyles. I guess if each indivual just made a tiny change to their lifestyle it would still have a great positive effect on the earth.
"In dreams, we enter a world that's entirely our own."
"After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure."
"Curiosity is not a sin.... But we should exercise caution with our curiosity... yes, indeed."
"Numbing the pain for a while will make it worse when you finally feel it."
"You fail to recognize that it matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be!"
"Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open."
"There was no point in worrying yet.... what would come, would come... and he would have to meet it when it did."
"It is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more."
All these magically wonderful quotes are by the same person. Guess who it is!
ok here's poem I wrote when I was 12- SO FROM LIKE 2 YEARS AGO IN GRADE 6. I just found my writing book from grade 6 and I'm like all excited. lol.
"The Hours of the Beach"
In the icy days of winter,
When the chilly snow falls,
I won't let my spirits freeze
Because when I think of the beach,
A warm breeze of joy gently touches my heart (u can see that i was kind of dramatic. lol)
Every hour of the beach is preciouse to me
In the morning I squint repeatedly at the glittering rays of the golden sun
At noon I eat while staring at the ocean
Its sparkling blue waves dancing with the wind
At sunset the sea is painted red
While the rose coloured shining flower of the sky is sinking down
Slowly the night lays its dark blancket over the sky
Silver stars twinkle overhead
"It's time to go," whisperes the breeze gently
I open my eyes and snap out of my dream
Pure white snow flackes fall to the ground
I smile gladly
It's nice to imagine.
ahem...in my opinion that was a very lame poem and my imagination was obviously screwed up and limited but oh well. It was nice to read soemthing from ages ago. My handwriting was better back then. lol.
p.s. remember to guess who the speaker of the quotes from my above are!
Your clue about the quotes being 'magically wonderful' is a good one!!!!
I guessed, then googled! Good quotes....my favorite was.....
"Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open."
(3 months and ticking til #7!)
That one was one of my favourites too but I still don't know which one i like most.
Can't wait till July...
Speakign of that, we all characters shall pass away. I wouldn't be surprised if Harry did. Who else (if any) do you think will? (don't guess Voldemort... that's lame. We all know that.) I vote for Ron and Malfoy.
Rocking On,
Postman Craig.
P.S. "If knowledge is power, than to have all knowledge is invincibility. Since we cannot know all, we are vunerable to humanity."
ur guesses are all very good. I'm not quite sure though...maybe neville longbottom dies.
Aw, no! He's too dim-witted cool for that (Ron is just a dim-witted jerk.)
Rocking On,
Postman Craig
no one is dim-witted. that is not nice craig. and i wouldn't be surprised if harry himself dies as u said.
No one is anything as such by nature unless they choose to be lazy and act that way... it's all about making correct choices. I'm sorry, I guess I should have more clearly defined that (shows what multi-tasking does for you.) So, no one's inheritently stupid, it's just they don't really try to use the intelligence they are gifted with, nor any wisdom.
Rocking On,
Postman Craig
I suppose that sounds right. It really depends.
Anyways, post some poems, writing, etc...please! I'll soo post my group's "twisted" version of beauty and the beast. It was pretty fun...exept not everything went according to what I wanted, which is the way it's supposed to be. It's called group work. lol.
It is obviously going to be Justin Finch-Fletchley... from teh HUFFLLEPUFF house
Ya know what? I personaly think life would've been easier if they allowed cross-houses. Just like you can have skills in multple subject matter, wouldn't it sometimes work out that you have traits that apply to more than one house? Hermione would end up in Griffenclaw/Ravendor; and so on.
C'mon! Think about it! You could have:
Slytherpuff/Hufflryn
Slytherclaw/Ravenlyn
Slytherdor/Grifenlyn
Huffledor/Griffenpuff
Huffleclaw/Ravenpuff
Griffenclaw/Ravendor
With a name like that, who wouldn't want to be in Slytherclaw?
Rocking On,
Postman Craig
looooool. so creative!
good guess simon. but y obviously?
A quote from King Lear:
It is no vicious blot, murder, or foulness,
No unchaste action, or dishonoured step,
That hath deprived me of your grace and favour;
But even for want of that for which I am richer,
A still-soliciting eye, and such a tongue
As I am glad I have not, though not to have it
Hath lost me in your liking.
